Harambee Stars Get Cash Motivation To Beat Eagles

Harambee Stars Get Cash Motivation To Beat Eagles

By James Agberebi:

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has increased allowances of Harambee Stars players to $118 per day ahead of the June 5 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria. And there are more concerted efforts aimed at raising more money to motivate Kenya players, and ensure they beat the Super Eagles in their FIFA World Cup qualifying match second leg on June 5, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Initially the players were entitled to $35 per day. According to Kenya FA President Sam Nyamweya, the decision to increase the allowances was aimed at motivating the players to win the crucial match.

Nyamweya has challenged other well wishers to come on board and motivate the team ahead of such an important match.

The decision comes barely two days after the federation, in conjunction with BTP Proactive, officially launched a fund-raising initiative that will see local fans contribute money to help the team.

The initiative dubbed "Mbao kwa Bao', seeks to raise 250million shillings through Short Message Services. Members of the public will contribute 20 shillings to a short code number 20870.

Kenya FA President Sam Nyamweya sent out a passionate appeal to the public to support the initiative.

“The federation has done its best to support this team but now we want to involve the public because this team belongs to them. We want to assure them that all the money raised will be used for the intended purpose,” Nyamweya states.

“We have put in place measures to ensure accountability on how the funds are spent.” --------------------------- Complete Sports
