Ejide To captain Eagles Against Mexico

Ejide To captain Eagles Against Mexico

By Richard Jideaka, Abuja:

Barring any last minute change of mind by the technical crew led by Stephen Keshi, Austin Ejide will man the posts and captain the Super Eagles against Mexico in friendly in Houst. USA tomorrow, Friday May 31(2am Saturday - Nigerian time), reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Ejide was in shape to becoming the Eagles first choice in the build up to the African Nations Cup in South Africa before a harmstring stopped him in a friendly match against Cape Verde.

The pair of Joseph Akpala and John Ogu have also been able to convince Stephen Keshi of their abilities and have also been handed starting shirts for the game.

A possible lineup leaked  to Completesportsnigeria.com from the team's camp shows that Eagles could play a 4-3-3 formation with Brown Ideye leading the attack, with Joseph Akpala and Nnamdi Oduamadi supporting him.

Others listed to start the match include Ambrose Efe, Elderson Echiejile, Godfrey Oboabona and Kenneth Omeruo in defence, with the trio of Ogenyi Onazi, Sunday Mba and John Ogu directing affairs from the midfield.

Our camp source revealed that the coaches are expected to announce this particular lineup during the tactical and team talk meeting by 11.30 am on Friday in Houston.

"I am 95 percent sure that Keshi would not change this lineup. He has been working on this and only a sudden injury or loss of form between Thursday and kickoff time can altter the lineup.

"The game plan is to beat Mexico as a booster for the crucial matches against Kenya and Namibia. The spirit in camp is high and the new boys are desperate to prove themselves in the team. We would shock them," Completesportsnigeria.com source states. --------------------------- Complete Sports
