Real Madrid's move for Spurs' Gareth Bale could depend on help from Manchester City
Real know Blues' boss-to-be Pellegrini wants their centre-half Pepe and could put his transfer fee towards buying Tottenham star
Real Madrid are ready to sell star defender Pepe to Manchester City – to help raise funds for 'Operation Bale.'
Incoming City manager Manuel Pellegrini is keen on the hard-man centre-half, and agents want a swap deal which would also see winger Angel Di Maria go from Real to Eastlands, in exchange for Carlos Tevez and some cash.
However, with a deal for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez looking increasingly likely, Real are not interested in Tevez.
Meanwhile, new French champions Paris Saint-Germain also want Argentina international Di Maria.
If Real get City - whose centre-half and captain Vincent Kompany has been linked with Barcelona - to buy Portugal international Pepe, they will have serious cash available to go for their top target, Gareth Bale of Spurs.
Real are only prepared to bid £60million for Welsh wizard Bale, whereas both Manchester clubs, Chelsea and PSG have made it clear they would offer £80m if given any encouragement.
It leaves the Spanish giants desperate to raise funds to win the escalating battle for Bale's signature.
While £20m-rated Pepe may be sacrificed – it is hard to imagine City paying that much for the controversial 30-year-old.
