The football house should make its stand publicly known on the failed naturalisation process for the German-born Nigerian winger who has now turned his back on the Super Eagles

After it was claimed by the Nigeria Football Federation that they had made contact with German-born Sidney Sam and coach Stephen Keshi’s various pronouncements that he had spoken to the winger, it was very embarrassing and disheartening to hear the player say, “I  never really thought about Nigeria and I do not know who invented that."
That statement is a collective slap on the face of all 160 million Nigerians and the NFF has a responsibility to make sure that this slight does not go unpunished.
Did all the talk from the NFF emanate from space or was an official just staring out of a window and making up stories? Or did the player, on being chosen by Germany decide to completely dissociate himself from and the correspondence that he might have had with the football house?
All these questions need to be answered quickly as silence will not be considered golden on this occasion.
NFF Assistant Director, Media, Ademola Olajire had said they were waiting to collect two documents that would be submitted to Fifa to obtain clearance for him to play for Nigeria.

Keshi claimed to have spoken to Sam about his interest in playing for Nigeria
For the above statement to have been made there must have been dialogue and correspondence between both parties so we have to ask why Sam is now outrightly denying that he had any dealings with the NFF.
Sam continued that, "I always wanted to play for Germany.” Another slap!
Have we gotten to the point where we are chasing average players all around the place and begging them to come and play for Nigeria? The football house should come out with a statement that tells the real story of what has transpired with Sam so that all other ‘mercenaries’ know that we cannot be played for the fool.
And if it is the NFF that has not done the right thing in processing Sam’s papers as they did for Victor Moses and Shola Ameobi, then they know that this palm oil has soiled their hand and they need a lot of soap (goodwill) to wash it off.
The Super Eagles should not become a circus of events but that is what it has been since the Nations Cup win in South Africa in February. ----------------- goal.com
