Sale away: Alex Ferguson's first United team sheet up for auction
The team sheet - from 1986 - is expected to sell for north of £2000 in Devizes this week
Sir Alex Ferguson's first-ever Manchester United team sheet is going under the hammer to the highest bidder.
Written
by Ferguson's own hand before a 2-0 loss to Oxford United, the team
sheet is expected to sell for around £2500 by the auction house in
Wiltshire where it will be sold.
The eleven players
donning the red shirts, white shorts and black socks on November 8,
1986, were not the household names that you associate with the Ferguson
reign, with Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes yet to debut for the club and
his lauded signings like Peter Schmeichel still way off.
Paul McGrath is arguably the most famous of the XI, along with the likes of Frank Stapleton and Kevin Moran.
Some lesser-known, or perhaps lesser-remembered players include Chris Turner and Peter Barnes.
