Galatasaray have rejected a €17 million bid from Barcelona for goalkeeper Fernando Muslera, Goal understands.

Current first-choice keeper Victor Valdes announced he would not be renewing his current deal at the club back in January and Tito Vilanova has now moved to replace the Spain international.

Valdes has been linked with a number of clubs, including big-spending French side Monaco, after revealing his desire to sample a new footballing culture and there is a growing belief he could leave Camp Nou before his contract expires in 2014.

The Catalans are expected to make a second bid for Muslera - whose contract at the Turk Telekom Arena runs until June 2016 - and sources close to the club suggest a €20m offer would be enough for Cimbom to sanction a deal.

The 26-year-old lifted the Coppa Italia with Lazio in 2009 and rose to prominence as part of Uruguay's 2011 Copa America-winning side. He joined Gala in 2011 and helped the Turkish outfit reach the last-16 of this season's Champions League as well as winning the Super Lig title.

His performances against Manchester United in the group stages of the competition saw Galatasaray vice-president Ali Durust reveal that Alex Ferguson had enquired about the availability of the 26-year-old.

Should Muslera leave Istanbul then Gala will move for Trazbonspor No. 1 Onur Kivrak. The 25-year-old Turkey international has earned the nickname 'butterfly' as a result of his goalkeeping exploits and has a release clause in his contract of €7.5m.

Kivrak is under contract until June 2016. ---------------------- goal.com
