Flying Eagles Land In France

Flying Eagles Land In France

Nigeria U20 team, the Flying Eagles, arrived in Le Castellet, near Toulon, Monday evening in time for the 10-team Toulon Football International Tournament.

The Flying Eagles flew out of the Munich Airport in Germany by about 3pm local time and landed at the Aeroport Marseille Provence by 5.30pm local time, which is an hour ahead of Nigeria.

They were received by their tournament local guide Mathieu Prudome and then drove by bus to their three-star Grand Prix Hotel in Le Castellet, which is about 25 kilometres from Toulon, where the opening matches of the U20 tournament will be played.

On Tuesday, Colombia will take Nigeria’s World Cup group rivals South Korea by 5.30pm, while the second game in Toulon will be between hosts France and the United States of America.
The Flying Eagles open their campaign on Wednesday by 5.30 pm against defending champions Mexico at the Stade Perruc Hyeres.

The other Group B match is between Brazil and Belgium.
Incidentally, two of Nigeria’s Group B rivals at next month’s U20 World Cup in Turkey are here in France for the Toulon Festival and will therefore use this annual international competition to prepare.

The Nigeria U20s plan to train for the first time in France by 10am.
All players on the 30-man provisional squad are in France even though only 22 of them bar the likes of skipper Abduljaleel Ajagun and Umar Aminu have been registered for the competition. ------------------------- Complete Sports
