The Flying Antelopes have stated that they were not happy with the Eagles' boss following his refusal to release their two top players for tomorrow's Caf Confederation Cup tie
Enugu Rangers' top officials have expressed their displeasure at the way Super Eagles' coach Stephen Keshi snubbed their request to have the duo of Sunday Mba and Chigozie Agbim for tomorrow's all-important Caf Confederation Cup third round first leg tie against Tunisian giants CS Sfaxien.
The Flying Antelopes' General Manager Ozor Chibuzor Paul, speaking with Goal, said that the club wrote to Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the League Management Company (LMC) asking to have the two players released for the game for national interest. Keshi bluntly refused to listen to their pleas.
"We wrote to NFF that they should release Mba and Agbim. But they did not answer us. We called Keshi and he said he needs the players and that he will not release them.
"The Mexican friendly will come up May 31st. The Super Eagles travelled last Thursday and what we are saying is that the two players should have been allowed to play the game on Sunday against CS Sfaxien and then join them in Germany.
"We even volunteered to pay for their tickets to Germany if they are allowed to return to Enugu to play for us. I did not talk about Emeka Eze because he is suspended for this game, although he also travelled with them.
"We need all our players and this is the last game before the group stage of the Confederation Cup. If Mba and Agbim had stayed back and play the game against CS Sfaxien, they would have returned to Germany by Monday or Tuesday.
"That was all we demanded for, but they did not acede to our request. Like I said we need all our good players for this game," claimed a non-too content Ozor.
However the Enugu based supremo stated emphatically that CS Sfaxien would not stop their aspirations of geting to the group stage of the Caf Confederation Cup, adding that the remaining players will fill the void left by the Eagles' duo.
Ozor added: "But I am still confident that we are going to do our best and win very well against CS Sfaxien."
Rangers will visit Sfax in the opening week of June for the return leg but they must first seek a healthy lead in the first leg tomorrow at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium. ---------------------- goal.com
