Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard hopes Manchester United "wobble" without retired manager Alex Ferguson
"From a biased point of view" Reds star wants change of boss to hurt their biggest rivals but he admits Moyes is world-class too
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard hopes arch-rivals Manchester United will have a "wobble" without Sir Alex Ferguson as manager.
The Anfield giants' on-pitch leader has tremendous respect for Fergie's successor, David Moyes, after years of facing his Everton teams in Merseyside derbies and believes he can carry on the Old Trafford success story.
But the die-hard Kopite in Gerrard hopes United will go downhill under Moyes.
"They have replaced a world-class manager with another, who has done a fantastic job at Everton," he said. "So I think David will continue to do a good job there.
"It's new for Manchester United. From a biased point of view, let's hope they have a wobble!"
Gerrard expects the champions to be the team to beat again, but feels next season's title race will be more competitive than this year's turned out to be, as United cantered home with an 11-point cushion.
"There's no getting away from it, the competition in the Premier League is going to get stronger and stronger.
"Manchester City are going to add to their squad, Jose Mourinho is back at Chelsea and we are going to make numerous signings.
"Tottenham and Arsenal are going to come back again... so I think we are in for a very interesting Premier League campaign."
