Roger Federer #Statsbomb: 10 years at the top
Roger Federer is a big loser for Paddy Power if he wins Wimbledon for a record eighth time. Now Rafa Nadal is out of the way, it’s a little easier too and punters have lumped on the Swiss defending champion. The 31-year-old, already into the second round after a straight-sets victory over Victor Hanescu, is 7/2.Federer faces Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine for a place in the last 32 after firing 32 winners and just six unforced errors against Hanescu.
Federer won his first Wimbledon title 10 years ago and, after beating Andy Murray last year, has his eye on the £1.6m winner’s prize.
Below check out the stats on Federer’s rise as king of the grass during his 10 years at the top. Boring, a little. Deadly, certainly.
Federer has amassed an unprecedented 17 Grand Slam titles, spent 286 weeks as the world’s top-ranked player, and earned over $77 million. Graphic shows Roger Federer’s career highlights. ---------------------- Paddy Power Blog
