Carlos Tevez has been warned he could be in further trouble with the courts if he doesn’t complete his community service order.
Tevez was in Turin on Wednesday, agreeing personal terms and having a medical ahead of his switch from Manchester City to Juventus in a deal that could be worth £12million.
The striker, who has spent seven years in English football with West Ham, Manchester United and the Blues, was ordered to carry out 250 hours’ community service in April after admitting flouting a driving ban.
Neither Tevez’s camp nor the Probation Service would comment when asked if he had already completed his sentence.
However, a Probation Service spokesperson claimed he could face further sanctions if it turns out he has not performed the full 250 hours within the allocated 12 months.
“We do not comment on individuals,” said the spokesperson. “Offenders must serve the sentences handed down to them by the courts. Anyone who fails to do so will have action taken against them.”
Tevez, 29, looked unconcerned when he jetted in to Italy to a hero’s welcome and declared his joy at joining the reigning Serie A champions.
“I’m very happy to be at Juve, as this is a great satisfaction for me,” said the Argentinian, who later waved a Juventus No.10 shirt printed with his name before the move was confirmed shortly before 10pm.
“I will say everything else in the press conference. Juve wanted me more than Milan.”
A statement on juventus.com read: "From now on, Carlos Tevez is a Juventus player.
"The Argentine striker, who arrived in Turin in the afternoon, has reached an agreement with Juventus to sign a contract of employment until 30 June 2016."
The Juventus statement added Tevez had undergone the first stages of his medical and would complete the examinations on Thursday ahead of his official presentation at Juventus Stadium, beginning at 10.30am UK time.
Tevez arrived at Milan's Malpensa airport from South America this afternoon and was mobbed by around 200 Juve fans ahead of his medical at the club's offices in Turin.
Speaking prior to Tevez signing, Juve director Giuseppe Marotta told La Repubblica Sport: "We are all really excited about this transfer, Tevez really is a major coup."
Reports in Italy suggest the former Manchester United and West Ham striker will sign a three-year contract worth £4.7million per season before bonuses - a deal which would make Tevez their best paid player.
After his unveiling, Tevez will return to a family holiday.
He would then be expected to be back in Turin ahead of Juventus' departure for pre-season training in the Alpine town of Chatillon on July 12.
