Yobo Eyes Turkish Cup Win With Fenerbahce

Yobo Eyes Turkish Cup Win With Fenerbahce

BY Johnny Edward:

Super Eagles skipper Joseph Yobo will be hoping to join the growing list of Nigerian players who have won a title in Europe this outgoing season when his side Fenerbahce defends their title against Trabzonspor in Wednesday's Turkish Cup final at the Ankara 19 Mayıs Stadium, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Efe Ambrose, Vincent Enyeama, Ahmed Musa all won the league title with their respective teams this season, while Eldeson Echiejile won the Portuguese Cup with SC Braga. The duo of John Mikel Obi and Victor Moses were champions of the Europa League with Chelsea.

Yobo who is expected to return to the starting line up after being rested for the weekend's clash featured for Fenerbahce last year in the 4-0 whitewash of Bursaspor in the final for his second piece of silverware in Turkey since joining the club from Everton in the 2010/2011 season after winning the league title in his debut season.

In the two league meetings between these two teams this season, Fenerbahce dominance prevailed. The first game in the Turkish capital ended in a 0-0 draw before Fenerbahce overpowered the hapless Trabzonspor 3-0 at Hüseyin Avni Aker Stadium earlier this year.

The Istanbul-based giants concluded their 2012/13 Super Lig season on Saturday by losing 3-2 to Karabukspor away from home, finishing runners-up to the champions Galatasaray. This recent defeat means that they have won three and lost three of their last six games in all competitions.

Trabzonspor have been in slightly better form heading into this Cup final although they too lost their last game 2-0 away to Galatasaray. With that loss, they have won four and lost two of their last half a dozen games. -------------------- Complete Sports
