New Delhi: Former Indian captain Anil Kumble wants the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to take lead from the International Cycling Union (UCI) and wipe out the records of those found guilty of match fixing.

A leading Indian daily quoted a source in the Working Committee of the BCCI as saying that during the Sunday’s emergency meeting of the BCCI, Kumble advocated zero-tolerance approach in spot-fixing cases.

"He told the BCCI hierarchy that there should zero-tolerance when it comes to spot-fixing. According to Kumble, if other sports bodies can go to the extent of wiping out records of legends if they are proven guilty, why not BCCI?" the source was quoted as saying.

Three cricketers -- S Sreesanth, Ajit Chadila and Ankeet Chavan -- representing Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) were arrested last week on charges of spot-fixing.

The sordid saga is getting murkier day by day with the names of more domestic cricketers cropping up in the scandal.
