Incoming Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has asked them to get him four new players in the summer window – and one is Liverpool’s star striker Luis Suarez, writes the Sunday People's Tom Hopkinson.
Diego Godin, of Atletico Madrid, and Valencia’s Adil Rami are two central defenders in the Chilean’s sights, along with Godin’s team-mate Mario Suarez, a defensive midfielder.
But City, who announced on Saturday that striker Sergio Aguero has signed a contract extension, know their toughest task will be trying to prise Suarez away from the Anfield giants.
Suarez is banned for the opening six matches of next season after biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, something Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe (!) recently criticised him for.
* MARTIN SKRTEL, however, has revealed he could quit Liverpool, writes the Sunday People's Dean Jones.
The 28-year-old defender, who signed a three-year deal in August, dropped down the pecking order last season and was left out for much of the second half of the campaign.
Skrtel said: “I have not had any specific offers, but if one should come I would probably consider it seriously.
“I feel sorry for what has happened this season but I have been here for five and a half years and I have built a position here.”
