Chukwu: Mexico Game will Toughen Eagles
Posted: May 21, 2013
Christian Chukwu, MFR has declared that the international friendly
match between the Super Eagles and Mexico slated for May 31 in Houston,
USA will toughen the Eagles ahead the world Cup qualifier against Kenya
in Kasarani.
Chukwu who is also member of the Technical Committee of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, posited that much as Coach Stephen Keshi will use the game to assess how ready his players are for the big game in Kenya, the response of the players will go a long way in ascertaining their readiness to trample on the Harambee Stars.
“No doubt it’s going to be a friendly match but there are essential elements that will make it tough and interesting”, Chukwu who also doubles as Technical Consultant to NPFL leaders, Heartland of Owerri said.
“First, the players will have to give out their best to convince the coach that they duly merit a place in the team that will confront Kenya in just a week’s time.
“Secondly, it will afford the coach opportunity to assess the players’ level of responsiveness to his game plans and which is very important.
“Of course, don’t forget too that national pride will also be at stake because Mexico who will be at the Confederations Cup will not want to go into the competition with losing mentality and the same applies to us (Nigeria).
“so I think the game will be tough and at the end of the day achieve the purpose for which it was organized for the team”. ----------------------------- Complete Sports
