Babangida Rues Kalu, Moses Absence From W/Cup Qualifiers
Posted: May 27, 2013
Erstwhile Super Eagles winger,Tijani Babangida says the absence of the
duo of Chelsea winger Victor Moses and Turkish based forward, Kalu Uche,
will affect the team’s chances of securing a place in the FIFA 2014
World Cup in Brazil.
Both players have been ruled out of the African Champions’ June duels against the Harambee Stars of Kenya and Brave Warriors of Namibia.
Babangida who represented Nigeria at the 1998 World Cup in France, opined that the skill and goalscoring of the duo will be missed in the two crucial games.
He also said that players called up to replace the duo must ensure they justify their invitations so they can be reckoned with in subsequent games.
“Kalu Uche and Victor Moses are both indispensable and they will definitely be missed during the all important Eagles game against Kenya and Namibia,’’ he begins
“Their abscence offers a chance for other guys to show what they can do and it is important they grab the opportunity with both hands”.
The Chairman of Nigeria National league side, Taraba United, urged the coach Stephen Keshi led coaching crew to believe in the crop of players in camp and put faith in them to execute all the games ahead.
“Coach Stephen Keshi and his team should put faith in the players in camp and psyche them up for the task ahead” he concluded.
Both Victor Moses and Kalu Uche requested to be exempted from the squad,as they both have injuries that they carried over in the course of the season for their clubs. -------------------- Complete Sports
