London: British tennis player Andy Murray has withdrawn from the French Open which begins from Sunday due to a long term back injury.

Murray has decided to miss the Grand Slam after consulting with his Medical Specialist. He has expressed his regret for not being able to play in Paris as he loves to play there.

“Unwillingly I had to withdraw from the French Open, but I will now focus in the Preparation for the Grass Court Session”, said Murray.

Without going into the details, Murray disclosed that he has a painful disc problem which needs to be changed often.

Earlier in last week, he gave a hint of not playing in the French open while playing at the second round of Rome Masters, where he retired hurt with a back problem.

The Olympic gold medal winner and the US open champion has previously missed a Davis Cup in Glasgow in 2009 due to a Virus infection. ------------------------- ZEENEWS.com
