Aguero dismisses talk of Real Madrid move

The Argentine striker spoke to Goal about his future at the Etihad Stadium, speculation linking him with a move to the Liga giants and preparations for next season

Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero has dismissed talk of a possible move to Real Madrid and expects the Blues to bounce back from a disappointing season.

A year after beating out Manchester United for the top spot in the Premier League, City finished second behind their rival and again failed to impress in the Champions League as they were left trophyless in 2012-13.

Aguero, though, is not concerned and believes the club is headed in the right direction as they prepare to enter the new season with a new manager following Roberto Mancini's dismissal.

"I'm happy to be part of a club that is growing so fast," Aguero told Goal. "I'm very happy to be at Manchester, it's been two years now but hopefully we are going to do bigger things in the next few years."

Rumored to be upset at how City's season finished, Aguero was recently been linked to Real Madrid before signing a one-year extension with the Blues.

A former player for Atletico Madrid, Real's biggest rival, Aguero was adamant that he never had interest in joining los Blancos and underlined his happiness at the Etihad Stadium.

"No, those were just rumors," Aguero said. "I'm committed to Manchester City, it's a great club."

After setting the Premier League on fire with 23 league goals and leading City to its first title in 44 years in his debut season, Aguero was one of the many players who saw their performances dip last term.

City also had a disappointing run in the Champions League, finishing fourth in its group, and lost in the FA Cup to Wigan - a team that was relegated from the Premier League shortly after.

Aguero explained that there was not one particular reason why City disappointed last year and he believes that it was always going to be difficult to live up to the previous season, but was coy on the heavy speculation linking Manuel Pellegrini to the vacant managerial position.

"You can't win the title every year but we finished second, made the FA Cup final," Aguero said. "Hopefully next year we can titles again."

"There's various rumors about it [Pellegrini] but we are going on holiday now. When we get back, whoever is the manager, we will be behind him and the club." ----------------------- goal.com
