Brazil 2014: Malawi Coach Plots To Depose Nigeria
Posted: Jun 04, 2013
The Flames of Malawi are level on points with the Super Eagles but are presently second on the Group table trailing the Nigerians by a goal difference.
Coach Ng’onamo says his team is poised to win next the two games ahead of them and hope the Super Eagles slip in the matches against Kenya and Namibia.
“We will play attacking football against Namibia from the first blast of the whistle to the last," Ng’onamo states.
"The boys will be flat out and they are going to sweat blood,”
“I don’t know what will happen with Nigeria in their matches but our aim is to beat Namibia, and then Kenya next week, to move on to 11 points.”
He further explained that their aim is to win the game on Wednesday because they will be playing in front of their home fans and will make use of it of that advantage.
Ng’onamo adds that the pitch will be favorable to his players since rival teams have found their stadium pitch a difficult place to play because of the surface.
He also admits his disappointment on playing the game against Namibia on Wednesday instead of his preferred Saturday though Group F matches have been rescheduled to Wednesday because of Nigeria’s participation in the Confederations Cup in Brazil.
“I am not happy that the games have been moved because it means most of the supporters will not come to support the national team,” Ng’onamo remarks.
Ng’onamo has recalled midfielder Dave Banda and equally experienced striker Chiukepo Msowoya for the match, which will be played on the artificial pitch at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
Namibia will be without several of their South Africa-based players, including strikers Rudolf Bester of Orlando Pirates and Henrico Botes from league runners-up Platinum Stars. ------------------ Complete Sports
