As frail football legend Paul Gascoigne continues to tackle his demons, his step-daughter Bianca yesterday insisted: “He is off the booze for good.”
The model, along with her brother Regan, 17, spent Easter weekend together at Gazza’s Bournemouth home, where the former midfield maestro is staying following a stint in rehab in the US.
Bianca, 26, revealed: “He’s brand new and on top form. I saw him last year when he was completely on a level and was absolutely fine – he’s the same now.
"He’s off the booze for good.”
Gazza, 45, spent a month in a £6,000-a-week detox centre in Phoenix, Arizona, with treatment funded by celebrity pals including Gary Lineker and Chris Evans.
Though the family have had fallouts over the years, Bianca said that they have been brought closer together by the former Newcastle, Spurs and England star seeking help for his alcohol addiction.
His ex-wife Sheryl, 47, has also been visiting him to lend her support, despite the couple suffering a strained relationship since splitting up in 1998.
Bianca added: “The two of them spending time together is the best thing to come out of this situation.”
Gazza’s battle with the bottle comes after friends said he was guzzling two litres of gin and 15 cans of beer every day.
He was also said to be taking Valium and injecting cocaine, a Class-A drug, into his leg.
Speaking at a pal’s fundraising bash, James’ Jog-on to Cancer, in London, Bianca added: “Walking around Bournemouth was nice – he introduced me to people saying, ‘This is my daughter.’ I was really chuffed.
“He’s absolutely obsessed with chocolate and sweets now so we took him a load to cheer him up.”
