Posted: Apr 29, 2013
Emmanuel Emenike finally made his long awaited return to action on
Sunday when he came in as a 54th minute substitute in his club,Spartak
Moscow's 2-0 win over Anzhi.
The Goal King of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations has not played since he suffered a hamstring injury during the semi-final of the Nations Cup against Mali in February.
Emenike's return is a big boost to Nigeria's quest to qualify for next year's FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The Russia-based star was sorely missed last month when Nigeria failed to beat the Harambees stars of Kenya in a World Cup qualifying game played in Calabar and many local football watchers blamed the result and Eagles disappointing play on the day on Emenike's absence.
The player himself is thrilled to be back in action and told a football only website, mtnfootball just how excited he was to be back after Sunday's game.
"I am so happy that I am back fully. I missed the game so much and I hope to start getting in the goals to reward my team for their support,” he told the website.
“When one returns from injury, the expectation is to start doing one’s job and I wish to live up to expectation now than ever before.”
He added: "This is not just a return but a sweet one for me and the team. I dedicate the victory to God and for everybody in the team and believe I will inspire the team to more victories.
"I'm back not just to be back but to make an impact and inspire my club.
“I have said that the draw at CSKA will boost our confidence and I think that is already working for us and we are hunt of more victories like this."he said.
Meanwhile Super Eagles invitee Anthony Ujah was on target for FC Cologne as they were held to a 1-1 draw by 1860 Munich in the Bundesliga 2.
Ujah scored in the 5th minute to put the promotion chasers in the lead, but Cologne were unable to extend their lead and Daniel Halfer scored in the 78th minute to equalize for the visitors.
In Turkey, forgotten Eagles forward, Michael Eneramo bagged a hat-trick for Sivasspor in their 4-1 win over Istanbul BB in a Turkish Super Lig game on Saturday evening.
Eneramo scored in the 26th minute to double Sivasspor's advantage after Kocak had put them in front with a 5th minute strike.
Doka Madureira pulled a goal back for the visitors in the 30th minute, but Eneramo ensured the hosts held unto their two-goal cushion with another goal in the 42nd minute.
Eneramo completed his hat-trick in the 56th minute to sign-off a miserable day for Istanbul BB who had Nigeria's Simon Zenke on the pitch for the entire duration of the game.
Eneramo has now scored 11 goals in 28 goals for Sivasspor who have moved up to tenth place in the Super Lig Table.
And in Ukraine,Haruna Lukman scored a brace to help Dynamo Kyiv to a --- victory over Dnipro. ------------------ Complete Sports
