Super Eagles Assistant Coach Salutes Youngsters
Super Eagles assistant coach Ike Shorunmu has declared that the country’s U-17 national team, Golden Eaglets, have what it takes to beat Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the CAF U-17 Championship in Morocco despite losing 1-0 to the Ivoriens during the group stage.
“Let me first congratulate the team and the coaching crew for a job well done.
They have done so well to justify why they are taking part in this tournament and I am sure that they have what it takes to win the tournament,” begins the former 3SC goalkeeper.
“The fact that Cote d’Ivoire beat Eaglets in the group stage does not mean that it will be another easy game for them again. The boys have to be focused and play to the instructions that will be given by their coaches.”
“I am sure we are going to win. We had similar experience at the Cup of Nations in South Africa and we overcame it, so I strongly believe that we can do it.”
The Golden Eaglets who defeated Tunisia 4-2 on Wednesday to qualify for the CAF U-17 final in Morocco will face Cote d’Ivoire on Saturday in a bid to lift the trophy.
The coach Manu Garba led side has also qualified for the FIFA U-17 World Cup holding later in the year in UAE. ---------------------------- Complete Sports
