Sainfiet Keen On Botswana Friendly for Eagles Match

Sainfiet Keen On Botswana Friendly for Eagles Match

Flames coach Tom Saintfiet said he is hopeful that the friendly match against Botswana will go ahead despite reports that the Zebras have arranged another strength-testing match against Uganda.

The Flames are scheduled to face Botswana on September 3 in Gaborone, but SuperSport reported that they are also scheduled to host Uganda’s Cranes next Saturday (August 31).

However, Saintfiet said it is possible that the Zebras are planning to play two international friendly matches before they face South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in a 2014 World Cup qualifier.

“Initially, they [Botswana] wanted us to play on August 31 because they have a special functions to officially open a stadium, but due to time factor, we negotiated and agreed that it should be played on Tuesday [September 3].

“So, unless there are any changes, I am hopeful that the match is on,” he said.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president Walter Nyamilandu and chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda could not be reached for comment on Sunday. ------------------ complete sports
