Víctor Valdés Top of the Match
The keeper made an absolutely fantastic save from Arda just before the break, despite not having an awful lot to do before that. He made another key stop from Villa in the second half to help guide his team to triumph. -
69
Piqué
Read the counterattacks of the visitors rather well, positioning himself to make crucial interceptions at certain points. He was unable to provide a threat in the opposing area from set pieces, though. -
87
Jordi Alba
The left-back pushed on to great effect and combined well with his team-mates, initiating some positive link-up play. His delivery was not always of the highest quality, but he did not allow Juanfran a moments rest. -
126
Daniel Alves
Pushed forward down the right and put a number of good crosses into the area, which his team-mates were unable to finish. He charged up and down the right flank continually and worked extremely hard. -
115
Cesc Fàbregas
Regularly looked to push on and attempt to unlock the Atleti defence with late runs from deep. He got into some dangerous areas and helped create some of his side's best opportunities throughout the game. -
811
Xavi
The midfielder failed to weave his magic on the game. His passes were mainly horizontal as he was unable to unlock the stubborn Atleti defence with a killer pass. His delivery from set plays was consistently poor. -
153
Javier Mascherano
An impressive performance from the Argentine as he kept a close watch on his former team-mate, Villa, to ensure his role in the game was minimal. He read the play well and was uncompromising in the tackle. -
106
Busquets
Tackled well in the midfield and spread the play from deep to good effect as his team dominated possession. Showed the other side to his game as he played a stunning pass into Messi early on but the Argentine could not finish. -
611
Alexis Sánchez
Struggled to get involved in the action and had a minimal impact on proceedings. He got into a couple of decent positions in the first half but was unable to turn the ball on target when he perhaps should have. -
1918
Lionel Messi Flop of the Match
Dropped deep to pick up the ball and caused problems when he ran at the defence. When inside the area, though, his touch was often lacking and he did not prove clinical enough to get on the scoresheet. -
2013
Neymar
In his first start in a Barcelona shirt the Brazilian showed some bright movement and linked up well with his team-mates. His control was impressive and he showed he has the technique to be able to fit into the team.

142
Andrés Iniesta Luján
Came on for Fabregas in the 73rd minute but had little time to impact the game. -
87
Pedro
Replaced Sanchez in the 65th minute and won his team a penalty in the closing stages.
-
111
Thibaut Courtois
Commanded his penalty area brilliantly and always looked confident of collecting the ball when it came close to goal. He may have expected to be tested a bit more, but he will be delighted with the clean sheet. -
44
Diego Godín
Was guilty of leaving space in the channels early on but soon remedied this and kept tighter to Juanfran. He had no worries of being beaten in the air and won a number of the headers he went in for. -
35
Filipe Luis
The Brazilian made a stunning tackle on Messi early on after allowing the Argentine to exploit space between he and his centre-back. He allowed Alves too much space after the break and was eventually dismissed following a clash with his compatriot. -
41
Juanfran
A solid performance from the converted winger, but he did struggle to cope with some impressive link-up play from Barcelona down his flank. He did not get forward to help counter but kept a solid base at the back. -
51
Miranda
The centre-back did not put a foot wrong all evening and helped orchestrate the defence effectively. He was composed with the ball at his feet and timed his tackles until a clumsy challenge saw him concede a penalty in the closing moments. -
52
Mario Suárez
Helped screen the defence throughout and was quick to chase down the ball whenever Barcelona looked to press. He also dropped in to help defend and made a great challenge on Messi towards the end of the first half. -
41
Koke
Operated from the left and helped protect Filipe when the ball came into the wide areas. He had a great chance to test Valdes in the first half but could only muster a tame effort. Nevertheless, he was energetic and worked hard. -
81
Arda Turan
A combative performance from the Turkey international who played in more of a central role. He was not afraid to go in for a challenge and a great battle developed between he and Messi. He was dynamic and also threatened on the counterattack. -
33
Gabi
Launched a number of breaks with a high-quality pass out from the back. He tracked the play through the middle of the park and refused to allow the Barca players too much time and space in which to use the ball. -
84
David Villa
Failed to have the kind of impact on the game that he had in the first leg. He received very little service and has barely involved in the game. He pulled one good save from Valdes just before the hour mark and that was all. -
58
Diego Costa
Was asked to drop in on the right when his team did not have possession and his work rate was commendable. He made Barcelona look exceptionally vulnerable to the break with his varied play, but he did not test Valdes at all.
