--Home Eagles Exit To Europe
Says Eagles coaches need to discover more talents from domestic league
Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, has declared that the exit of Sunshine Stars defender Godfrey Oboabona to Turkey where he recently joined Rezespor and few other home-based players who are on the verge of joining foreign clubs will mean more work for the coaching crew ahead of the African Nations Championship holding in January in South Africa.
Oboabona who was a part of the team that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa and also helped coach Stephen Keshi to qualify for the CHAN, recently completed a move to Turkey, a situation that has ruled him out of the tournament designed by CAF to help home-based players improve in the round leather game.
Speaking yesterday, the former Togo national team handler who is looking forward to the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Malawi next month said the Home Eagles will not disappoint in South Africa.
“I wish Oboabona good luck in his new club and also I want to advise him to be a good ambassador of the country. He must also give his best in the new club,” says Keshi.
“He alongside others have played a key role by making sure that we qualified Nigeria for the CHAN for the first time and now that they are not going to be there for the main championship, it means we really need to work harder and make sure that we get good replacement for the position that will be vacant in the team.” ----------------- complete sports
