Goal rates the players on show as Karim Benzema's solitary strike proves to be the difference as los Blancos labour to their second consecutive Liga victory

20Roberto
The keeper looked shaky when put under pressure and made a few mistakes during the first half. Grew into the game and kept out Ozil at his near post before the break and a Ronaldo effort late in the second half. -
01Allan Nyom
Let Ronaldo walk in behind to assist the opening goal as his judgement of the offside trap was poor. He made a few good tackles on the Portuguese as the game continued and that forced Madrid to look down the other side. -
22Pape Diakhaté
Caught out not marking anyone as Benzema slotted home the opening goal. He struggled to track the movement of Benzema when he dropped into deeper areas and left big spaces at the back. -
00Brayam Angulo
Chased up and down the flank but it was in his area that Madrid looked most threatening. He was unable to get close to Di Maria and stop him from supplying his team-mates with crosses into the box. -
00Mainz
The centre-back lost Benzema as he slid in the opening goal of the game. He looked immobile at the back and struggled with any runners going past him and into the area. He did not look particularly solid. -
00Yacine Brahimi
Was clever when in possession on the right flank as he tried to play penetrating passes. He did well to exploit the spaces left by Marcelo but did not supply enough quality in the wide areas. -
01Dani Benítez
His delivery was poor in the wide areas and he failed to get at Arbeloa throughout his time on the pitch. He grew frustrated quickly and struggled to offer the hosts a positive outlet on the left. -
00Hassan Yebda Flop of the Match
Struggled to get close to the ball in midfield and was left chasing shadows for long periods. He did not get in possession enough and failed to leave a positive mark on the game. -
10Manuel Iturra
Backed off far too much in the middle and allowed Madrid to control the possession inside the Granada half. However, he did not stop running and when he did go in for the tackle he was fully-committed and strong. -
00Piti
Showed good control in close quarters but did not have enough players around him in order to link the play accurately. He was unable to find the space to supply a killer ball for El-Arabi but almost created a late equaliser for Riki with some great skill. -
00Youssef El Arabi
The striker missed a great chance to level the scores in the 19th minute and it proved to be his best opportunity of the game. His movement was not brilliant but he received very little service throughout the game.
Substitutions
-
00Fran Rico
Looked calm on the ball after replacing Yebda and helped Granada try and build their attacks. -
00Diego Buonanotte
Brought on for Dani Benitez in the 76th minute and was very lively. He drew a challenge from Casemiro that was worthy of a penalty, but nothing was given. -
00Riki
Came on for El Arabi at half time but was unable to add anything different to the Granada attack.
-
43Diego López Rodríguez
The keeper was only really forced into one save by El-Arabi and that was a comfortable one. He had very little to do for the rest of the game but was called upon in the closing stages. Even there, he managed to maintain his concentration to keep them out. -
23Pepe
A solid evening from the Portuguese centre-back. He did make one clumsy challenge in the first half for which he received a booking, but he toned things down quickly and had a competent end to the game. -
50Sergio Ramos
Dominated the aerial game at the back as he seemed to win every single header that he went up for. He kept his side tight at the back and was an important part of their clean sheet. -
41Marcelo
Passed the ball and was keen to push forward and outnumber Granada down the left. His combination with Ronaldo was hardly spectacular though and at times he left his team short defensively. -
31Arbeloa
Pushed on well in the first half and got a lot of joy when combining with Di Maria. He put some decent crosses into the box but after the restart he became a lot more restrained. He nearly gave away a penalty for handball in the second half. -
42Mesut Özil
Linked the play well and combined with Di Maria impressively during the first half. He made some good runs beyond the striker and was only denied a goal by a good Roberto save. He faded after the break, though. -
82Luka Modric
The Croatian was composed in possession and looked to orchestrate things from deep for Ancelotti's men. When moving forward his incisive, crisp passing helped create openings for his team-mates to test the keeper. -
11Ángel Di María
A bright start from the Argentine as he found acres of space on the right flank and was Madrid's main danger source in the first half. He produced a few good opportunities but his influence wained after the break. -
41Isco
Played in a deeper role than usual for the first hour and used the ball well to keep his team ticking along. He showed a great touch and rattled the post early in the second half. His passing was exquisite throughout. -
53C. Ronaldo
The Portuguese did earn an assist for the opening goal, but it was more of a heavy touch than a pass to Benzema. He struggled to fully display his mercurial talent but peppered Roberto's goal with shots. -
42Karim Benzema Top of the Match
Missed a good chance early on but quickly rectified that error by getting on the scoresheet with a calm finish inside the area. His movement was intelligent as he came short and also moved out to the flanks to help his team test the opponents.
Substitutions
-
10Daniel Carvajal
Came on for Di Maria in the 89th minute. -
30Nacho Fernández
Replaced Marcelo in the 61st minute and added a bit more solidity at the back. -
10Casemiro
Brought on for Ozil in the 65th minute and was fortunate not to concede a late penalty for a tackle on Buonanotte. ------------------- goal.comWay 2 go Madrid...
