Flying Eagles Hold Brazil 1-1

Flying Eagles Hold Brazil 1-1

Nigeria U20 team, the Flying Eagles played a 1-1 draw with Brazil in their Tuesday's third game at the Toulon Invitational Tournament in France.

The game which was played at a fast pace had little chances created by both teams. But Brazil had the first real opportunity when Erik Lima headed over the bar after he was left unmarked in the 18-yard box.

The South Americans who already had nine points after wins over Portugal, Mexico and Belgium, got the first goal in the 40th minute, thanks to Lima who made amends from his earlier miss to put his team in front.

On commencement of the second half, Coach Obuh made three straight substitutions. Moses Simon came off for Edafe Egbedi, Kayode Olanrewaju replaced Samuel Moses and Samuel Eduok was brought in for Etor Daniel.

The substitutions proved effective as the Flying Eagles started raiding the Brazilian defence, with Egbedi almost drawing Nigeria level but lost balance in the box.

Salisi Gero finally drew the Flying Eagles level in the 53rd minute after his earlier goal in the 48th minute was ruled offside.

With this result, Nigeria now have two points from three games, and will meet Portugal in their last game on Thursday, while Brazil qualify for the final.

In the group other game, Mexico and Portugal played a pulsating 3-3 draw. ------------------ Complete Sports
