Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's dad misses son's wondergoal in Brazil after falling asleep in front of the TV
Classic dad moment for Pops Chamberlain, just resting his
eyes for a momentzzzz... Even Roy Hodgson stayed awake, and it was a
hoot
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain kept up the family traditions in the Maracana - but his dad snored his way through his wonder goal.
Oxlade-Chamberlain struck England’s equaliser as Roy Hodgson’s men got a morale-boosting draw against five time World Cup winners Brazil. But former England winger Mark Chamberlain, hero of the famous victory in Brazil in 1984, fell asleep in front of the TV and missed his son’s goal.
Arsenal starlet Oxlade-Chamberlain smiled: “It doesn’t surprise me that he fell asleep. He’ll probably be the last person to get in touch!”
Oxlade-Chamberlain swapped shirts with Neymar at the end of the game and admitted it was one of the best nights of his career.
“It was fantastic to come here and score a goal like that,” he said. “I didn’t expect it but it was something I’ll never forget.”

England boss Hodgson said: “First goal was one that pleased us because of build-up by Wayne and then the strike.“Then Wayne always dangerous cutting in. Maybe a little deflection but without that still would have had Julio Cesar at full-stretch.
“They were lucky with first goal because thought it was going behind but just have to take hat off to second goal.
“We would love to be here and based in Brazil’s group. We’re a work in progress. We face stiff opposition and have a lot of work to do before we can think about 2014.
“Very confident and games like this increase confidence and make us even more determined to be part of the party the World Cup will be.
“It was a real honour to be here. Atmosphere fantastic. Inside looking pretty good. By time the World Cup comes around there will be improvements.
“But this is a good night for us, a big result.”
