ACTION REPLAY
Posted: Jun 06, 2013
1’ : The ball is being played in the Kenya half at moment, but Kenya recover
3’ : What a miss from Ideye. He has only the keeper to beat but balloons the ball into crowd. Oh! What a chance for Nigeria 4’ Nigeria back in possession now as Omeruo sends a long one but it’s too long for Ideye
7’ : Pressure is piling up against Kenya but Wanyama brings things under control. Harambee Stars win a free kick half way
10’ : Danger averted in the defence but Ahmed Musa loses possession. Keshi rises from the bench to calm his players. Keshi had to shake off malaria early hours of today
11’: Wanyama brings down Ahmed Musa and he is down temporarily. Game continues as Nigeria continue to dominte here
12’ : Kenya gain possession but the long ball to Jamal Mohammed gets to Enyeama first. Oduamadi has been a thorn in the flesh of Kenyans as Nigeria win a free kick after Musa is brought down
14’ : Kenya clears but Wanyama to Owino is too much as Nigeria win a throw in
17’: Ahmed almost puts Nigeria ahead with his curling free kick but David Ochieng punched to safety
18’ : Better one from Ideye who charges into a bit of space on the right. He swings in a cross which is deflected and claimed, after one slightly awkward bounce, by Ahmed Musa. The Kenyans are still looking for that first breakthrough on the break
23’ : Long one from Kenya who have yet to really settle into any sort of stride. Again, that’s no problem for the Nigerian defence. Enyeama has been on holiday here in Kasarani
24’ : Mikel bolted away, briefly, down the left - he leaves Wanyama in his wake - but, with not much in the way of support, overruns it as he looks to cross but nothing comes of it
27’ : Kehata wins Kenya’s first corner but Wanyama’s bicycle kick is ballooned into the air as though he wants to pluck some mangoes. Nigeria continue to pile more pressure
30’ : Nigeria escape a scare there as Oboabona intercepts Kahata’s pullout. A corner for Kenya but nothing comes out of it
31’ : Kenya will be the more encouraged so far, without a doubt. That’s twice they’ve forced good saves - and that’s twice more than the Super Eagles. Meanwhile the game stops as David Owino undergoes treatment
36’ : Nigeria escape another scare but they win another corner from a counter
39’ : Long ball from Mikel is nodded down and there are one or two moments of uncertainty in the Kenyan defence. In the end, they clear their lines. Ahmed Musa bolts away from Owino but his pullout is cleared to safety
43’ : A weak shot from Mandela. Mikel is being fouled by Wanyama as the midfielder tries to turn him. He complains but he gets a warning. Well, that’s what the referee thinks. It looked a bit harsh.
44’ : Musa misses another begging chance here. Wanyama looks for Kahata but again it’s rather aimless. Oduamadi lays a nice pass to Onazi but his shot is deflected for a corner. Efe does well to stop another counter from the Kenyans
HT: Half-time arrives with the score at 0-0. Plenty of chances, but plenty of fine goalkeeping. Nigeria started the better, but Kenya bossed the latter stages. As it is, we’re as you were. It’s deafening here at Kasarani. No one dare call my cell phone now It’s goalless here in Kasarani and the Kenyans must be relieved as the center referee sounds the half-time whistle otherwise they should have been training with three goals had Ideye Brown and Ahmed Musa not forgotten their scoring boot s ahome. Both players did well in the latter stage but Keshi now knows that he is missing Emmanuel Emenike in this game. Due respect to the Kenyans who will be ruing Wanyama’s chance in the latter stage of first half. They did dominate possession as the first half comes towards a close.
SECOND HALF : Nigeria get the second half underway. No changes yet from both sides
46’ :Goalkeeper Ochieg saves Kenya’s blushes after stopping Oduamadi’s goal-bound shot 47’ Oboabona is careless there but the linesman picks an offside. Ahmed Musa takes off too early and is flagged offside
48’ :First yellow card goes to Owino but the free kick does Harambee Stars no harm as goalkeeper Ochieng picks the ball in the air
52’ :Onazi picks a yellow card. He needs to be careful 53’ John Ogu comes in for Sunday Mba
58’ : A good run from Oduamadi down the right leads to a low cross, which leads to decent defending from Harambee Stars defence.
60’ : Goalkeeper Ochieng and Wanyama are down receiving treatment from medics 68’ Anthony Ukjah comes in for Ideye
70’ : Ujah does well to connect Ahmed Musa’s pull out but his effort is over the bar. Nice one from Ujah. Good news from Malawi as their match with Namibia ends in a draw
74’ : Mulinga Munadi gets another yellow for Harambee Stars after a foul on Oduamadi but nothing comes of the free kick
81’ : GOAL! Musa latches on to long ball over the top a loose ball, shakes off a defender then calmly scoops the ball into the net over the goalkeeper. It’s Nigeria 1 Kenya 0
85’: The Harambee Stars are really frustrated here as Nigeria does well to keep the ball 86’ Nigeria making its last change. Keshi has brought in Fegor Ogude
88’ : Oboabona does well to stop Owino from picking a through pass
89’ : The stadium is dead silent now with some of the fans looking downcast. But Super Eagles are fighting hard to maintain their lead
90+3: Enyeama kicks the ball out but Eagles are doing well to keep the ball. A goal kick for Harambee Stars, but a Kenyan striker is picked offside. Another Kenya player is down on the turf
90+4 : Game over and Nigeria wins. It’s three points for Super Eagles and the route to Brazil 2014 World Cup is fast becoming clearer now. Eagles are still cheering thousand of Nigeria who came here to cheer them all the way. As it stands now Nigeria lead the group with eight points from four matches, while Malawi and Namibia trail with six and four points respectively. As for Kenya, they look good to be out of the race. Ahmed Musa remains the hero of Kasarani. Coach Stephen Keshi deserves all the credit having defied malaria few hours before the game to still barked out instructions from the wings. -------------------------- Complete Sports
