Zlatan Ibrahimovic stamped his mark on the Champions League on Wednesday, scoring four goals as Paris Saint-Germain cruised to a 5-0 win over Anderlecht in Brussels.
The mercurial Swede, for whom this was a first ever hat-trick in the competition, will have been particularly satisfied with his third, a powerful effort from range (see video below). Edinson Cavani completed the scoring for the Parisians.
Olympiacos and Benfica trail Laurent Blanc's side by five points in Group C after Oscar Cardozo salvaged a late point for the Portuguese side on a waterlogged pitch in Lisbon.
Defending champions Bayern Munich made short work of Viktoria Plzen, recording a 5-0 success with Franck Ribery (two), David Alaba, Mario Gotze and Bastian Schweinsteiger on the scoresheet.
Galatasaray got their campaign up and running with a 3-1 rout of FC Copenhagen - a result that saw them climb above Juventus in Group B. The Old Lady went down 2-1 to Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, Cristiano Ronaldo scoring twice for Los Blancos.
In Manchester United's group, Bayer Leverkusen put Shakhtar Donetsk to the sword in Germany. Inspired by two-goal Stefan Kiessling, they were 4-0 winners against the Ukrainian side.
