Arsenal outcast Park Chu-Young’s move to Wigan is on the rocks - because of the size of the reserve striker’s wages.
The South Korean is keen to go to Owen Coyle’s club on loan, with a debut against high-flying Blackpool lined up for Saturday.
However, the Gunners' forgotten star is on close to £3million-a-year - and even with the Premier League giants helping out, will still be expensive.
Coyle has been looking for a new striker for weeks to give him cover up front but the cost of bringing in Park, who has rarely been seen since he signed for Arsene Wenger, looks too pricey.
Park is stuck in neutral because of his salary.
He spent last season at Spain's Celta Vigo, but could not find a temporary home this time.
The situation is hitting his international chances - he has lost his South Korea squad place in the run-up to the World Cup finals next summer.
