Henry Nwosu hails Eagles' show of character in Addis Ababa

The one-time Nigeria international has showered praises on the senior national team for getting an away win against the Walyas Antelopes
Former Super Eagles midfielder, Henry Nwosu has praised the fighting spirits of the Super Eagles after coming back from behind to beat the Walyas Antelopes of Ethiopia 2-1 in Addis Ababa in a Brazil 2014 World Cup play-off played on Sunday.

Ethiopia's Assefa put the home team in the lead in the 57th minute but two cracking goals from Emmanuel Emenike in the 67th and 90th minutes handed a crucial away advantage to the Super Eagles in the scorching sun of Addis Ababa.

Nigeria will book a back to back berth at the World Cup finals in Brazil if they play at least a goalless draw or lose by a lone goal during the return leg in Calabar on November 16.

Nwosu noted that it took great character and courage from the country's senior national team to come back from the brink of defeat under the condition with which they played in Addis Ababa.

"Thank God we won. It took a lot of courage and determination to come back the way the Eagles did in Addis Ababa despite the high altitude which obviously affected their game," Nwosu told Goal.

He charged the Eagles to complete the job they started when the Walyas Antelopes visit the U J Esuene Stadium, Calabar next month.

"The Eagles played with character and I am tipping them to fly past the Ethiopians when they play the second leg in Calabar next month," Nwosu added. --------------- goal.com
