Besiktas have ban upheld

Following the club's unsuccessful appeal Slaven Bilic's men will only be allowed to play in front of women and children for the next four homes games as men have been banned
Besiktas will be forced to play four home fixtures without male spectators after their appeal to have the ban reduced was thrown out by the Arbitration Committee in Turkey.

The games against Rizespor, Kardermir Karabukspor, Torku Konyaspor and Sivasspor will only be open to women and children as males will not be allowed to attend those matches following violent scenes towards the end of match against Galatasaray last month.

The encounter produced a record attendance with 76,127 reportedly at the game but both sets of players were forced to flea to their respective dressing rooms as hundreds of supporters invaded the pitch towards the end.

Galatasaray were leading 2-1 but were down to 10 men after Felipe Melo was sent off before play was suspended.

Besiktas coach Slaven Bilic was handed a three-game touchline ban by the Turkish Football Federation following a series of remonstrations against the referee, while the club itself was forced to pay a €21,000 fine due to their fans' behaviour coupled with inadequate security measures. ----------------- goal.com
