The Barcelona coach believes the referee was correct to dismiss the Bhoys captain and hailed his side’s triumph in Glasgow as their best performance of the season so far
The Bhoys skipper was dismissed after appearing to kick out in Neymar’s direction after having fouled the Brazilian just before the hour mark.
The Blaugrana attacker was jeered by the home crowd at Celtic Park for his reaction to the incident in which little contact was made, but Martino insisted that the red card was justified.
"The sending off was correct, the referee saw it," the Barca boss told reporters after the game.
The former Newell’s coach went on to hail his side’s performance as their finest of the season so far.
"It was our most complete game," he argued. "It was our best of the season. We produced when we had to. We had control of the game at all times.
"We tried to neutralise them and play our game. Except for one shot from which Victor Valdes made a great save, we had no troubles and had the ball."
Barcelona were without Lionel Messi due to a hamstring injury and while Martino admitted his side did miss the Argentina international, he insisted his they must continue perform in his absence.
"It is impossible to not miss him, but we have to face the music without it and play good matches," he claimed. ---------------------- goal.com
