Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert is playing down the excitement surrounding England's newest star Andros Townsend.
Winger Townsend pitches up at Villa Park on Sunday with his Tottenham teammates – and Lambert says the 22-year-old is not in the same class as £85million Gareth Bale.
Townsend had been loaned out nine times by Spurs before making his Premier League debut this season and was a major figure in the wins over Montenegro and Poland that booked England's place in the World Cup.
But the Villans' Scottish manager said: "People are jumping on a bandwagon after a handful of games.
"There is great hype. When someone plays one or two games, suddenly he is a world-beater. Gareth Bale did it over a number of games.
“I don’t know the lad Townsend at all, but the last couple of games for England he has played well.
”We won’t take any special precautions. Spurs have a huge, strong squad of top players.”
