Redknapp joins Wilshere in calls for England team to use only `home-grown` players
London: Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp has said that he supported Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere`s statement that only English born players should play for the England national football team.

Redknapp made the statement ahead of England`s clash with Montenegro in their crunch World Cup qualifier on Friday night.

According to the Daily Star, Redknapp, who was famously overlooked for the England job in favour of Roy Hodgson, said that he supported Wilshere`s view and believes that English players should be given a chance to break into the England team.

Wilshere made the statement after teenaged Manchester United wonder boy Adnan Januzaj was touted as a future England star despite being born in Belgium to Kosovar-Albanian parents.

According to Redknapp, if clubs bring kids from abroad when they are 17 and wait until they qualify to play for England, they are just extending the international transfer market, adding that such moves are turning England into an international club instead of the national team.

England need wins at Wembley on Friday night and then against Poland on Tuesday to secure top spot in Group H and automatic qualification for next summer`s World Cup, the report added. ANI ------------------- ZEENEWS.com
