Former FA chief executive Mark Palios believes that chairman Greg Dyke has made mistakes in the implementation of his newly-formed FA Commission.
However, Palios feels that too much focus has been placed on the personalities that will make up the 10-man panel when the importance of the affair should simply regard how to tackle the problems of the national side.
Since unveiling the commission and naming names, Dyke has come under heavy scrutiny for a number of reasons, including a lack of representation for ethnic minorities and for seemingly sticking with an 'old boys' mentality, lacking in fresh ideas.
Heather Rabbatts, the FA's only female board member, Kick It Out chairman Lord Ouseley and the likes of former England player's Gary Lineker, Stan Collymore and John Barnes have all voiced their displeasure at the Commission, selected by Dyke.
Nonetheless, Palios, who resigned from his role with the FA following revelations about his private life in 2004, thinks that while Dyke has made mistakes, the actual 'names' on the commission aren't all that important anyway.
"I’m not really concerned who the personalities are on the commission," said Palios, speaking to TalkSPORT.
"What’s important is the brief that’s given to the commission.
"It’s important to note that it’s not the commission that will do the work, it’s the people pulling all the stuff together.
"The trouble is that everyone gets focused on the personalities on the commission. People are saying, ‘he should be in, she should be in’.
"Even Greg Dyke would admit it’s not been implemented in the way he’d have liked and he’s made mistakes in the way he’s made the announcements, etc."
Joining Dyke on the panel are Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, England manager Roy Hodgson, FA vice-chairman Roger Burden, former England manager Glenn Hoddle, ex-England defender Danny Mills, League Managers' Association chairman Howard Wilkinson, Professional Footballers' Association chairman Ritchie Humphreys, Football League chairman Greg Clarke and Crewe director of football Dario Gradi.
