Martino's the ideal coach for Barcelona, says Sergi Roberto

The youngster is satisfied with Barca's choice of boss and is keen to secure regular first team action in the new season
Sergi Roberto believes Gerardo Martino is the ideal coach for Barcelona because of his style of play and his attitude towards young players.

The Liga champions turned to Martino following Tito Vilanova's decision to step down because of his health problems and the midfielder feels the Argentine is the right man for the job.

"Martino did a great job with Paraguay and with Newell’s Old Boys," Roberto was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

"He’s a coach who has confidence in young players and his teams treat the ball well. Therefore, I think he’s the ideal coach for us."

The 21-year-old then went on to discuss the departure of Thiago Alcantara to Bayern Munich and his chances of getting regular first team action in 2013-14.

"It’s a shame Thiago left because he’s a good player. I wish him the best at Bayern," he added.

"Personally, I’m eager to see how many minutes I get on the pitch this season. It’s always special to be part of the first team. I’ll try to help the team as much as I can."

Roberto made his official first team debut in November 2010, but has so far mainly been plying his trade for Barcelona B. ---------------------- goal.com
