The Slovakia international has hailed the arrival
of the Real Madrid striker and believes his side can challenge Juventus
for the Scudetto
Marek Hamsik has backed Gonzalo Higuain to help Napoli make things difficult for Juventus in the race for the Serie A title.Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed earlier this week that Higuain has passed a medical at the Partenopei and the striker is expected to complete his move from Real Madrid to the Stadio San Paolo side on Friday.
Napoli have already recruited Madrid duo Raul Albiol and Jose Callejon and Hamsik believes Higuain's capture can help bridge the gap between them and the Bianconeri.
"Higuain is a very strong player and a real goalscorer," the attacking midfielder was quoted as saying by La Stampa.
"He's a different kind of player than Edinson Cavani, but our style of play will change as well with a new coach. The new Napoli will be aiming for more possession and put pressure on opponents without the ball.
"We already had Juventus in our sights last year before the home game against them, but we eventually missed something.
"However, if we do not make mistakes, we will be pretty close to Juventus in the new season."
Napoli ended the 2012-13 campaign in second place, nine points behind the Turin giants. -------------------------- goal.com
