Keshi: I Dont Need Osaze, Martins

Super Eagles head coach,Stephen Keshi has denied media reports that Osaze Odemwingie and Obafemi Martins have been handed a Nigeria lifeline and would be recalled to beef up the national team's attack, insisting that the duo are not in his plans.

Speaking in Abuja yesterday, Keshi stated unequivocally that he has firmly shut the Eagles doors on the some players, especially the duo.

"I did not say I will bring back Osaze, Martins, Yak and others as reported. I have tried them and we've seen Osaze, Martins, Yakubu and others here, what else do we want to see and what can they give? We just have to move on,'' he stated.

The Eagles gaffer revealed at no time did he tell anybody that he would be bringing back these players noting that the fact that his strikers failed to deliver at the Confederations Cup in Brazil does not call for hasty recall of certain players who many say have past their prime.

I only said I will try to talk to Victor Anichebe again into rescinding his decision to stay away from national team duties. At no time did I say I will bring back any one of those mentioned'',he reiterated.

Keshi however admitted that he might visit Anichebe in Liverpool if that is what it will take to get him to play for his country again.

Inspite of the criticisms that trailed Nigeria's inability to get out of the group stage of the just ended FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil,Keshi is still full of praise for the players who prosecuted the tournament, adding that Nigeria was the only country who paraded a depleted team.

"We criss-crossed continents and arrived late to the competition. I think we did very well under the condition we went there''. he concluded. --------------------------- complete sports
