Feeling good: Rooney is in form and in shape

Wayne Rooney claims he has been given a new lease of life at Manchester United - because of Sir Alex Ferguson's departure.
Rooney continued his fine start to the season on Wednesday, playing a starring role as United saw off Real Sociedad in the Champions League.
And
afterwards the England striker also seized victory in his feud with
Fergie after his former boss confirmed he DIDN'T hand in a transfer
request last season.
The former Old Trafford chief claimed the striker had asked to leave the club last season – which Rooney always denied.
But in interviews to promote his autobiography, the Old Trafford legend - while still maintaining Rooney "wanted away", he admitted no transfer request was formally submitted.
And
that left the player - who celebrates his 28th birthday today - stating
the matter had finally been put to bed, allowing him to look towards a
brighter future with the Red Devils.
"He's
got his own opinion, but I haven't said nothing about it, and
thankfully he came back and corrected the story that I put a transfer
request in - he's proved I haven't," Rooney explained.
"I'm
thankful to him he's corrected that. It hasn't reignited a feud, and I'm
happy under the new manager. I'm working to get results under David
Moyes and his coaching staff, and that's the main thing for me now.
"The
other stuff doesn't concern me - I won't respond to it all. I am just
happy playing my football at the minute and that's the past; I'm looking
to the future now."
The future, as far as Rooney is concerned is
under Moyes at Old Trafford, as he shot down any lingering rumours he
would be leaving Manchester United.
And the England star couldn't
resist taking what amounted to a pot shot at Ferguson, by pointedly
claiming that the arrival of David Moyes at the club has revitalised his
football.
"A new coach has come in and it's given me a new lease
of life if you like - I'm really enjoying working with David Moyes," he
added.
"The manager has got a lot of players hungry and you can
see tonight they are fighting for places. The results haven't been what
we want but we are working to put that right, and we are fighting for
success.
"I do feel like I'm in the prime
of my career, I feel good, I feel fit and I'm enjoying my football.
Hopefully I can score more goals and be successful at United.

Moyes declared himself pleased with the performance, but called on his side to be more clinical.
"We do need to get more ruthless the job is to score and get them in the net," said the Scot.
"It
is not just a case of one person, we have to all take responsibility.
It will make the job more easier, make my job more easier. We need to
score more.
"You could see the anxiety because we have slipped up
here once or twice already this season. But we played well and deserved
to score more, and it wouldn't have been right if we conceded."
Moyes also confirmed that Robin van Persie, who missed the European game with a toe injury, should be fit for the weekend.
