The Manchester United boss was delighted with the
27-year-old's role in Wednesday night's 1-0 win over Real Sociedad, and
admits his side could have scored "five or six" goals
Rooney has been in fine form for the Red Devils this season and impressed again on Wednesday night, playing a crucial role in the game's only goal - much to the delight of his manager.
"We just want a top player like Wayne to play well and he is playing well. I’m repeating myself but I’ve been saying it since day one. He’s been playing well and training great.
"We trained him hard and I think England are seeing the benefit of that as well. We need to see it all the time. That’s what the fans want to see."
United failed to extend their lead despite dominating possession, leading to a nervy second period, but Moyes felt his side's performance had merited a more commanding scoreline.
"[It was a] good job," Moyes continued. "Good performance. We could have scored more and should have done. We could have scored five or six today and it wouldn’t have been out of place.
"We gave away a couple of free kicks outside the box and I wasn’t happy about that. I think some of the decisions didn’t go our way tonight." ----------------- goal.com
