The Super Eagles midfielder is delighted with the prospect of meeting with the nation’s number one citizen on Thursday
Enugu Rangers
midfielder Ejike Uzoenyi is looking forward to Thursday’s presidential
reception organised for the bronze winning Super Eagles squad at the
2014 African Nations Championship held in South Africa.
The pint sized player was Nigeria’s star performer in the competition and adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the competition.
In a chat with Goal, Uzoenyi said the
presidency has done well to recognise their effort despite not emerging
as champions. He also continued saying this gestures will spur him and
his colleagues to always put in their best whenever called on national
duties.
“To say that I am glad is just an
understatement. This is a laudable feat by the president and it should
be commended,” he told Goal.
“ We went to South Africa and even
though we were written off after the first match against Mali, we were
able to hold our own and still got a bronze medal in only our first time
of participation in CHAN.
“I am going to Abuja with a very good
feeling and I am sure that this gesture will make us always offer our
best to the country at any time,” Uzoenyi concluded. ----------------- goal.com
