However, the Toffees coach says the England left-back was
never going to move from Goodison Park as the club had "dug its heels
in"
Everton coach Alan Stubbs has revealed Leighton Baines DID want to leave the club during the summer transfer window.
But he admits the club were never going to sell the England left-back because it had "dug its heels in".
Manchester United were linked with the 28-year-old throughout the summer as former Toffees boss David Moyes took charge at Old Trafford.
And while Marouane Fellaini made a deadline-day move to the Manchester club, Baines was forced to stay put.
Stubbs told The Sun that this was always going to be outcome, explaining: "Bainesy was never really an option to leave, the club had dug its heels in, but Bainsey had obviously said he'd like to go."
