Spain can create World Cup history - Del Bosque

The Roja coach believes the reigning world champions can become the first European team to triumph in South America
Vicente Del Bosque believes that Spain can create history by claiming next year's World Cup in Brazil.

In 2010 his side became the first European side to lift the trophy on a foreign continent when they went all the way in South Africa and now the reigning champions have their eyes set on breaking another record by winning the title in South America.

“We have the quality and experience to win the title.” said Del Bosque in an interview with Fifa Weekly.

Spain will face 2010 finalists the Netherlands in a group that is completed by Chile and Australia.

Del Bosque, though, is more concerned with how his players will respond to the gruelling conditions, as a number of his stars could be involved in club competition just three weeks before the big kick off.

“The South American climate takes its toll on European teams, in terms of temperature and, above all, the humidity. That can cause one or two difficulties," he continued.

“Next year's scheduling worries me slightly; the Champions League final in Lisbon takes place on May 24, with the World Cup set to start on June 12. That doesn't leave much preparation time.”

Spain are hoping to follow up their Euro 2008, World Cup 2010 and Euro 2012 triumphs and complete an unprecedented sequence of four consecutive major international titles on the bounce.

And Del Bosque believes his side's unity and tiki-taka approach will help lead them to victory.

"The Spanish team blend together perfectly, both on and off the pitch, and that makes any talk of tactics unnecessary. Our approach works best for us, and our success proves us right." ------------- goal.com
