Zorc: Strong start vital for Dortmund

The BVB sporting director has called upon his side to hit the ground running next term as they look to wrestle back the Bundesliga title from Bayern Munich
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has told his troops that they must enjoy a strong start to the season.

The Ruhr giants were not at their best at the commencement of last term, which later forced them to play catch-up with runaway leaders Bayern Munich, who sealed the title in April.

However, Zorc is optimistic about the new campaign but has highlighted the importance of coming out of the blocks much quicker this time.

"You have to be wide awake early in the season and get points. We want to get off to a great start," he told Kicker.

Dortmund face Bayern Munich, who they met a total of five times last season, in the DFL-Supercup on July 27 and Zorc has bemoaned the number of fixtures between the two sides.

"We play them in a week in the Supercup in Dortmund. It might be attractive, but you don't need a duel with Bayern 180 times per year."

BVB new-boy Henrikh Mkhitaryan is set to be out of action for four weeks with an ankle injury but Zorc is confident that the Armenia international's adaptation to his new club will not be hampered.

"Henrikh is already so well integrated that he'll have no trouble adapting when he's ready to play in three or four weeks," he added. ---------------------- goal.com
