Swansea's Wilfried Bony signing will make me better than ever, claims Michu
"We’re pleased he has joined and he will try to help us. He has scored a lot of
goals in the past," the Spaniard says after hitting 22 himself last season
Vow about that: Michu insists he will get better

Michu insists he will become even better this season – thanks to the arrival of Swansea club-record signing Wilfried Bony. The
Spanish midfielder made his big breakthrough with 22 goals in all competitions last year, but was forced to play as a makeshift striker.
Yet
Michu, 27, believes he can reach greater heights by returning to his
favoured position – as a support player behind £12million hotshot Bony.
Michu,
who scored in his first outing alongside Bony in Saturday’s 3-0 win at
Reading, said: “I prefer to play behind the striker so I hope you will
see a better Michu. I scored more goals when I played behind a striker
last season.
“I like that position because I can move around and the centre-backs
are looking for the striker and not me. I can arrive late from the
second line and score
goals. On board: Swansea City completed the £12m club record signing of Wilfried Bony this summer

“It was important for
Swansea to bring in a top striker and Bony is a super player. We’re
pleased he has joined and he will try to help us. He has scored a lot of
goals in the past.”
As well as snapping up Ivory Coast hitman Bony from Vitesse Arnhem, Swansea have
increased their attacking options in Jonjo Shelvey, Alejandro Pozuelo and the returning Jonathan de Guzman.
And Michu claims no-one can expect to start their Europa League opener against Malmo on Thursday night at the Liberty Stadium.
He
added: “We will be stronger this season. It’s good that the level of the team is going up because we have a lot of new players.
“We
are really competitive now and it’s difficult to start in this team. The
squad is much stronger with the likes of Wilfried, Jonjo, Alejandro and
Jose (Canas). We have four competitions this year and it will be a hard
season for us.
“We are stronger this year with the new players. No one is guaranteed a place to
start the season. We are all trying to impress the manager and training
really hard. The level is higher now.”
