Galliani remains Milan vice-president

Galliani remains Milan vice-president
The Rossoneri have announced hierarchical change, but the 69-year-old has retained his position

AC Milan have confirmed Adriano Galliani will remain the club's vice-president and CEO in an official statement on Thursday.

The 69-year-old looked set to depart the San Siro after revealing his desire to end his 28-year tenure, following criticism from president Silvio Berlusconi's daughter, Barbara, over his transfer policy.

But the persuasive powers of Berlusconi and an overwhelming rally of support from Galliani's many allies across the footballing world have ensured his stay.

A club statement read: "Firstly, the technical/sporting area will remain under the control of Adriano Galliani, vice-president and CEO. Secondly, the business area which does not correspond to the first will be under the control of fellow CEO Barbara Berlusconi.

"Paolo Berlusconi has been confirmed as vice-president and all club board members have been confirmed in their current positions: P. Cannatelli, L. Cantamessa, A. Cefaliello, G. Foscale and A. Marchesi."

The Rossoneri will be hopeful the changes can spark an upturn in fortunes for the club following an uninspiring start to the season that sees them sat in 10th place in Serie A. ----------- goal.com
