Steven Taylor apologises after tweeting 'racist' picture at four black Newcastle players

The Newcastle defender later deleted the tweet, and said that he was sorry if the image had caused any offence
Newcastle veteran Steven Taylor has apologised after posting a picture of four black men to his Twitter page and tagging four of his team-mates, writing "it's always good to see you smiling".
The Newcastle defender tagged four black Newcastle players in the picture, Massadio Haidara, Papiss Cisse, Vurnon Anita and Mohamed Sissoko.
Only one of the players, Anita, was actually pictured in the image, but Massadio Haidara was quick to come to Taylor's defence, saying it was all part of an in-joke.
"Is just bander (sic) with Papiss, Moussa, Vurn' and me. He joke with me 2 min before," wrote Haidara.
Steven Taylor later tweeted an apology to his 35,000 Twitter followers, writing:
"Apologies if my tweet offended anybody."
Taylor's followers were quick to react to the tweet, mainly criticising the defender for posting the picture.
Twitter user Ray Fox referenced a famous Steven Taylor diving incident to suggest that the Newcastle player should go into hiding:
"Steven Taylor should clutch his chest, go down dramatically and this time, stay down for at least a year."
Another Twitter user Stephen Best, labelled Taylor 'stupid':
"I see Steven Taylor's as stupid as his on pitch persona suggests, then.."
Nick Moor, a football fan from Berwick upon Tweed, also found a way of comparing the tweet to Taylor's on-pitch performances:
"That Steven Taylor tweet is as shambolic as his defending."
