Blackburn insist that £10million-rated Jordan Rhodes will not be sold as part of a January fire sale to cut their £54.5m debts.
Rovers lost £36.5m last season when their wage-to-turnover ratio was 136 per cent.
But managing director Derek Shaw claims that Rhodes will not be going. “There has been no discussion about selling our best players,” said Shaw.
“The owners want to get back to the Premier League. We are not attempting to sell our first-team players – and that is on the instruction of the owners.”
Rhodes started his career at Ipswich Town and after loan spells at Oxford United, Rochdale and Brentford he joined Huddersfield Town.
The Scotland international has scored more than goals for Blackburn in all competitions since joining from Huddersfield.
